the Bank will be disposed to give up or at all events greatly to reduce the interest for the current year. Should this be considered incompatible with the instructions received by the Sydney Board of Directors we shall not I hope be thought asking too much in requesting that it may be referred to the Directors in London.

You are already aware that some communication has taken place between my Brother Col Macarthur & the Secretary to the London Board on the subject of his joining us in the Security to the Bank for our debt of £12500. This he has written to me he would willingly do if the Bank will advance an equal sum in order to enable us to pay off all other debts. The Bank would thus be our sole creditor &
