required a larger loan than the half of the proceeds in order to cover his advance for the shipment. I assure you that it was with the greatest difficulty that I was able to obtain the £100 cash from him and of course with out the sirens of war, it was impossible for him to act on the offensive. I have however the satisfaction of thinking that perhaps after all I could not have obtained more, except perhaps that if I had been in a situation to have seen I alarmed him I might have got the whole in a [indecipherable] at 3 mths instead of six. Nevertheless I have strong reason to believe his expenses which fell from Mr Fox that he will be the party who will meet the bills & not Duppa - in this case of arose I could not expect to get better terms as to time.
