Gentlemen

Be pleased to pay, at the Banking House of Messrs Coutts & Co to the order and on account of Vice Admiral John Erskine Douglas, the sum of Three Hundred & Fifty Pounds Sterling (£350) on the 20th July 1838 and a like sum of £350 on the 20th January 1839 & to continue such half yearly payments on the 20th July & 20th Janry in each ensuing year, until further notice.
