Sir
It is that you are one of the trustees for the late Sir William Macarthur that I do myself the honor of addressing you.
I am an old Colonist formerly of the Yass District now of the Hunter River and have always taken a great interest in Viticulture following the teachings of the Macarthurs & [Bowmans?].
I find this great Industry which was planted in these Colonies by the Macarthur family is languishing because people lack a reliable text-book on the Vine by a N.S.W. authority.
There are many books on the subject being published but they are chiefly
catchpennies with S. Australian or Californian experience, none of them true guides for our Vignerons.
