Cher Monsieur, 

Je viens de recevir une lettre de notre ami Mr. Adam qui me prie de le rappeler à vos bons souvenirs, il est maintenant à Bourbon ou il pense  ȇtre retenu pour affairs pendant deux ans. Il a intention [indecipherable] de venir passer trois ou quatre années dans cette colonie pour y etablir une Sucrerie. 

Comme il me demande beaucoup de questions concernant les vignes, je viens près de vous ci ce n'est vous importuner vous demander comment font les votres cette année. Les 

[Translation: 
I have just received a letter from our friend Mr. Adam asking me to remind you that he is now in Bourbon where he expects to be held on business for two years. He intends [indecipherable] to come and spend three or four years in this colony to establish a sugar factory there.

As he asks me a lot of questions about the vines, I come directly to you, if it is not too much to ask how yours are doing this year.]
