My dear Elizabeth,

I was sorry to find by a note from Sir William that May MacArthur had not written as poor Katie requested her to do to tell you of her sad bereavement. I suppose she must have forgotten! 

I know you are all very sorry for my dear Sister with her heavy charge of young children I am thankful to tell you that she bears up wonderfully.
