My dear Mrs. Onslow,

Many thanks for your kindness in writing to me from near Port Said.  Your sympathy is consoling to us all.  My poor son Finlay was so weak at the time his dear daughter died, that it was a sore trial to him as well as to his wife and children.  His eldest daughter is in a very delicate state, but she and her father are both improving I am thankful to say, and Catherine is much better, and Allan is nearly
