on the fruits of their industry, and it is perhaps wrong to Tax Colonial profits for Colonists have taxes to pay in the Colonies, whereas owners of property in England are not required to pay taxes upon it, if they are residing in the Colonies.
I hope there will be no necessity for your going to Australia so soon as you anticipate, as you will be unhappy in the abscence of those of your family you leave behind; at their ages education is indispensible, and it should be looked upon as the most important matter to attend to. Mr. King will no doubt see that things are under proper management at Camden, and that should obviate any need of your early return.
Property in Melbourne has been selling at fabulous prices. Allotments of half an acre, originally purchased for £40, are being sold for £400,000, thus ten thousand times the first cost.
