My dear Mrs. Onslow,
I was glad to get your letter of the 19th and to learn that you were all well, and that we may soon expect the pleasure of seeing you in London. I saw by the Inverness N. Paper that you with your eldest son, and daughter were enjoying yourselves at the "Northern Meeting", and that your sons had good shootings in the north.
I hope you got the matter of the Income Tax settled satisfactorily. That Tax is most iniquisitious and is apt to lead to a species of smuggling, if not to false declarations by the unscrupulous payers. It is wrong to tax professional men, and trade
