was as I understood to have the original race in its purity. 

The small flock is of very good quality, and by proper selection are no doubt capable of improvement.  I think a mistake was made in sending so many animals to the public sale.  Only a few of the best (after 2 or 3 of the very best were reserved for the flock) should have been sent.  Should you however get Sir Williams approval and should The Hon. Mr. King (who will be a true adviser to you) after perusal of this letter still recommend the introduction
