subject to sea-sickness I think the American route is the best, it is also the coolest.  It would suit Miss Onslow better than the Cape Lieuin [possibly Cape Leeuwin] route.

At the time I left I was suffering from a gouty cough and a pain in the left knee.  From the use of Carlsbad water, (a bottle of which I drank every morning) I got over both complaints pretty well when I reached Frisco, but during the fortnight I was in America travelling without the Carlsbad and with inferior food the
