a very smooth comfortable passage throughout.  After spending two days at Frisco we travelled by rail through the southern parts of California thence through Arizona, New Mexico, and a few miles into Mexico at El Paso on the Rio Grande, the most of the country this far, with the exception of some very fine country near Frisco, was extremely dry & much of it a perfect desert, without wood and without water.
