My dear Sir William

According to promise I write a brief account of my movements since I left Sydney on the 20th Apr. last in the "Australia".  We made Auckland on the 24th and left on the 25th.  Spent a day at Honululu, where the people seem to be a very contented happy race, but I fear the large influx of Chinese will destroy their peaceful home.  We arrived at San Francisco on the 16th May, having had a
