My dear Sir William,

I cannot let the old year pass away without writing a few lines to wish you a happy new year and every blessing for the future.  We have recd. many benefits and have reason to be thankful with our lot, at all events I have been specially favored and I ought to be truly grateful.

I was sorry to hear of Capt Onslows illness, I trust however that he is better, I deeply sympathise with Mrs. Onslow who has been so dutiful to all around her, she certainly deserves every
