My dear Sir William,

Yesterday I posted you a Book on the Australian Merino or rather on "Sheep Breeding" in which some interesting facts connected with your late fathers introduction of the Spanish Merino, and also of your own experience and skilful in the management of that truly valuable flock, &c &c.

We have had a great Ram Sale here, and Mr. Currie obtained the highest average:  £91 each for about 30 rams.  I had 24 at the sale and sold only 7 at from £21 to £105 each.  Mine were only grass fed;  nearly all the others were forced into too high condition which gave size and weight
