My dear old Friend,

I can assure you that I was truly glad to hear that you were so much better, and also that Mrs. Mcarthur enjoys better health.  I duly recd. both your letters of the 13th and 25th inst. in which you so kindly took take the trouble of writing details about the Merinos, from which I am glad to hear that you are pleased with them.  It is surprising that so few of them have had dead lambs, as they were knocked about a good deal in travelling by railway:  the noise & screeching of the
