purchased I have been able to pay for.  In fact the profits I made in the Hobson Bay Railway stock I have invested on the security of land at from 6½ to 8 per cent, so that I am in a pecuniary point of view well off.  Some of these securities I have made in the names of my children, thereby giving them an independent income.  I also divided my Victorian lands amongst my family so as not to have to pay the iniquitous land tax.  I know you take an interest in my progress, otherwise I would not trouble you with such details.

Trusting to hear that you continue to improve & that we may have the pleasure of seeing you here, and with kindest and best wishes to you all, I remain,

Very sincerely yours
W. Campbell
