to work a large station.  The Dessaillys [Desailly] had I believe £60,000 derived from the sale of their Billibong stations, and in about 3 years they were insolvent.

The Melbourne Banking Company lost £100,000 on the Tooralle Station on the Darling.  I mention these facts to shew that a rent of £100 a Block is more than a man can pay on a back block, consequently many of those blocks will be thrown up, and many of the Lessees will soon be ruined if they go on improving.  It will be hard upon men who have partially improved to have to throw up their holdings, which they will be forced ultimately to do.  It is a most
