My dear Sir William,

You will be glad to hear that my son Allan in whom your late Brother and yourself took such a kind interest in, has taken his degree of B.A. at Oxford:  he has also been attending the Middle Temple with the view of being called to the Bar, and will have to read with a Barrister for about a year.
