overcrowding stock upon their runs, the capabilities of which are generally overestimated.  The northern parts of Victoria on the Campaspie, [also spelt Campaspe] Lodden & Wimmera, and both banks of the lower Murray did not receive much of the March rain, and are now suffering much for the want of feed, in fact Melbourne has been fed chiefly with mutton from the New S. Wales for the last 6 or 8 months.  Prices of sheep stock within the last few weeks have fallen below
