and Allan is still at Oxford, where I believe he is getting on well.  He has passed nearly all his examinations, and has made many good friends.  I had a letter from him the other day in which he expresses his gratitude to Sir Chs. Nicholson, who he says is as kind as ever to him, and to whom he is indebted for many of the kindnesses he has received at Oxford.  He was to spend part of his vacation with Dr. French the Arch Bishop of Dublin, and with his party
