place in Feb. last made me sad for a considerable time, yet it was not altogether unexpected, as she was in impaired health for some months previous, and had reached the age of 87.  I may say she was the last of her generation, and I feel that her death is the breaking of the connecting link between the past & present, and a sad weakening of the ties to the land of my birth, and a most practical lesson of the fleeting things of this life in which we may truly learn "that all is vanity & vexation of spirit".
