My dear Sir Wm. Macarthur,

Though I have nothing to communicate that can be of much interest to you still I write a few lines to keep up the correspondence which has always been a source of pleasure to me.

Since I returned from Sydney I have paid 4 visits to the Murray, and 1 to the Murrimbidgee plains.  I am sorry to say that the drought continues there to an alarming extent.  The ground is as hard as a brick
