on the Darling:- "your remarks and opinions about the country to the west of the Darling are strictly correct.  I would state from my own experience that the whole country pretty nearly above the "Barrier Range" country is very poor and badly grassed. pasture of every sort scarce - great want of succulent herbs (my sheep even required water in winter sometimes on this account) heat very great - fleeces light, and not well grown - carriage expensive and sometimes cannot be done at any price - drought I imagine not unusual - residence of
