Murray is only about 1500 miles, which at £4000 a mile would amount only to £6,000,000, less in fact than Victoria has expended in double lines to Ballarat and the Murray.  You will observe that the last section of our Railway to the Murray costs less than £6000 a mile, and we adopt the best and heaviest rails &c.  I have adverted to this matter to shew that places that are now distant and inacessable are sure to be brought near to the centres of civilization, yet I would not speculate too much on the future, as these improvements must be the work of time.

If you could get some one that has influence in the Crown Lands occupation
