My dear Sir Wm. Macarthur,

Allow me to introduce the bearer Mr. John McLean one of the largest squatters in both of the provinces of Otago and Canterbury.  He and his brother hold about half a million of acres of the finest grazing lands in New Zealand, and from the heavy fleeces they cut from their flocks, sheep farming is much more profitable there than in our dry climate in the interior of Australia.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr.. McLean ever
