steps in carrying out your intentions of squatting and I think it would be worth your while to stay a few days in Sydney with the view of expediting the matter.

I have in several parts of Victoria observed the same total decay of young and old gum trees that you have in parts of Camden and although unsightly I would not regret it as it will double or treble the grazing capabilities.  I have heard several causes attributed such as being overstock with oppossum, grub, fungus &c.  No doubt if the oppossum eat off all the young shoots upon the plants for a continued length of time it would throw back the circulation of the sap, and ultimately kill the plant, but not having lived in the vicinity of the places where such wholesale decay has taken place
