from the Chief Commissioner what lands are vacant or available between the Lachlan & the Darling rivers.  From all I can gather there is a great deal of that country of excellent healthy pastures, though there is also a large proportion of it scrubby and unfit for stock, I believe that from 3 to 6 acres of the open plains will carry a sheep.  If there is much vacant country (that is country not taken up) it would be advisable to send some one that understands surveying to define its position in case it might prove a mass of scrub or be occupied or applied for by another.  I have no doubt but there will be a deal of confusion
