interest in the welfare of the Colony as few did amongst the Officers of Gov.t there or do here, I might have gone on very well receiving my 2000 a year & doing nothing for it & a person of a more even temper and not have been ruffled by the storms & tempests and w.h were & will be  perpetuated in that place until a clean sweep takes place & another system be adopted - 

I have been very little at the Colonial Office & know little or nothing of those proceedings.  I saw Lord Goderich once & Lord Howich once, w.h quite convinced me they knew nothing about the Colony or its interests; nor did they seem desirous of knowing.  Unless insisted I keep a look for
