My dear Macleay,

I have written, as you suggested, to the Hon. H. Parkes, Colonial Sec: & to Mr Kreffts from whom I received a letter with the same request.  There is no doubt that a careful systematic exploration of the Wellington Valley Caves would be fraught with most interesting information & would yield us a rich store of [indecipherable] Marsuperalia [marsupialia]. I read with
