and so make [indecipherable] far more cheerful than it is at present.  Alex has got a little money [indecipherable] & must needs move now to States.  The matters were savage.  Instead of going out to one of the Colonies to get an house living, he remains to live a [indecipherable] life in London at his poor Fathers expense.  If he were my Son I wd. [indecipherable] him out.  I wish that you would write to him poi9nting out what his chances wd. be in N.S. Wales, as a Barrister.  Such a letter wd. leave him without excuse for his miserable behaviour.
