I can but trust that you will be more fortunate in the second shipment, and now as to yr. consignment of magnificent Tree Ferns &c.  The cases were packed carefully after yr. directions.  The Tree Ferns are glorious fellows & apparently are all alive as are [indecipherable] parasitic Ferns all [indecipherable] to them.  The Telopeas are one half dead, & the other half in a very shaky condition.  The Dendrobes in very good order, D. Aemulum perfect.  The Patersonias all dead, as is the Dracaena, but the Croton may return.  The saw dust was quite dry & no damage mischief resulting or other [indecipherable] to have affected the cases.  The conclusion I came to is that this mode of packing is capital for
