My dear Friend

Thanks for your nice long letter of the 6th.  I was very much occupied at the time of its arrival & unfortunately missed the returning mail.  The [indecipherable] of your Orchids sent by me did go by the St. Osyth which I hope made as good a voyage as she did the first time.  I have not seen [indecipherable] my telegraphic notice of such arrival.  Whether Veitch sent his envoi by her I do not know tho' of course you do long before this. I shall be glad to [indecipherable] the plants [indecipherable] are good enough to promise to send to me by her.  May I mention now, in each
