My dear Friend

I have for a month or two postponed writing to you in the hopes of being able to say that I had perused Sismondi's book but in spite of my advertisements both at home & abroad I cannot procure it.  It is not among my books either & as I am very sure that I must have seen it in my Fathers Library as it is not in my own & the title is familiar to me, it was probably sold in the Colony when my Father left E. Bay.  We returned to London about a month ago, having enjoyed our residence in the Highlands more than
