8/9/'14: Arrangements made for Companies to be divided into messes; mess orderlies to draw rations for the whole mess.

Owing to the number of officers and men sea sick, this could not be arranged until 9/9/14 only one Officer being well enough to carry on.

9/9/'14: Arrangements were made for each Company to wash clothes and have hair cut.  General inspection of quarters and kit bags.

10/9/'14: 4-20.  Arrived at Townsville. Received message from Chief Naval Officer, Townsville, instruction me to return to Port Moresby and rejoin Corps a soon as possible.

10-0 a.m. S.S. "Kanowna" cleared by Port Doctor.

The following message received from H.M.S. "Fantome" - You are instructed to rejoin H.M.A.S. "Berrima" by this ship.

Reported on board "Fantome" 10-40 a.m.

S.S. "Kanowna" was then proceeding to berth at wharf, all officers and men had been warned that no information was to be given to Press Representatives or to their people.

Sail at 11-0 a.m.  Arrived at Port Moresby Septr. 13th - delayed there awaiting coal and instructions.

Left Port Moresby Septr. 16th at 4-0 p.m.

Arrived Rabaul 2-30 p.m. Septr. 20th.  Reported for duty on board H.M.A.S. "Berrima" 4.55 p.m.
