"Dates" are now being issued in lieu of jam, this may be good tucker for the Arabs & Bedouins but the meat eating Bushie does not take to vegetarian diet.[Following paragraph is crossed out]Today we hear of a bit of a rumpus in Cairo owing to Gyppy Reserve Soldiers being called up for service. The 9th L.H. went in & soon quietened with the aid of Machine guns in armoured cars- etc:- No place for women here at present Omit.Attended Church Parade- We have now a fine fat Priest attached to the Regiment in addition to C. of E.
