[Tuesday January 4 1916]

Stayed at Windsor Hotel the old Hall Porter bemoans the lack of Tourists- which were worth 250/- /- a year to him.
All the survivors of the SS Persia, which was torpedoed are staying here men, women & children, they are fairly cheerful but lost everything & most of them had been picked up out of the water. Returned Cairo 4 p.m. train.
Cutter is here & well.
