[Saturday 18 November 1916]

Off the coast of Algeria again, quite hot did some big gun practice with our 4.7 at the stern of the boat.
Understand we are to go to Salonika first, this will be interesting-
Must be many letters waiting for me in Egypt.
Am getting fat & soft on board altho' there is the usual Gymnasium of mechanical riding Horses etc etc:-
The poor Tommies get little room for exercise. I told you we had many different Regiments aboard. One Scotty Officer at Gibraltar when I admired his Kilts offered to lend them to me to be photographed in- he said my cost 5/-/- with Scotch
