nearly 250 plants, a great part of which are Gramina and Calonariae, the variety of which is truly astonishing and appears to be greater even than in Europe! I have likewise collected near 50 Species of Seeds, and these I shall forward to your address by the first opportunity, and sincerely hope that should any of them turn out new Species, that they will not be suffered to flower - be admired, - and then perhaps decay, without any trace of their having been in England, or any [indecipherable] being made to Science, to compensate me for the time and trouble it has cost me in procuring them, Such has, I have every reason to think, been the case with the numberless collections of Seeds and roots I was continually sending home from the Mediterranean, amounting I am well convinced, to near 800 Species,
