Dear Sir,

I beg leave to recommend to you Mr George Shaw of Magdalen Hall in this University, who will compleat his Master of Arts Degree about Easter next, to be your Amanuensis in your next voyage, or to act in any other Department of suitable Rank & Distinction for an Academical Scholar.

I can with great truth say that Mr Shaw has a very curious turn, & is to the last Degree inquisitive into the wonders of Nature, especially of the vegetable & insect Kind, which he draws, & depicts in colours in a beautiful & exact manner; is a very intelligent & laudable
