There seems no doubt therefore that the whole of the money allotted to the Cabin should be put out the Mess & £30 or 40 a piece allowed to the Gardener & Miner.

As there are 2 Lieuts. a Mate & a Surgeon in the Gun Room each according to the Companies Rate would receive only £20 a year the Captains allowance is evidently not intended for his own Mess Money but for the Mess at his table.  £10 a year each would I think do [indecipherable] the Gardener & the Miner
