Sir Joseph
We arrived at Jamaica with 348 fine young Breadfruit Trees, having had the good fortune of not loosing a single Plant in the run from St. Vincent — After giving in a list of the Plants to the Gentlemen of the Committee apointed for that purpose they chose to Divide them to the different Counties according to the Population of each Parish, reserving a Depository of the Breadfruit and the major Part of the other Plants, for a Public Stock which I have engaged to take charge of at the salary of £200 per Annum exclusive of board, washing and lodging —
The Situation fixed upon for the Public Nursery is at Bath near Dr. Dancers Botanic Garden who also this time is sending out Negroes to collect Plants for His Majesties Garden at Kew — I shall employ all the leasure time I can possibly have in making a large collection of Jamaica Plants for His Majesties
