I must still defer going until I have every thing well regulated here, when my presence is absolutely necessary for some time, every thing being so dependant on the Governor and must continue so until we have a more regularity and System. From eight in the morning to five in the Evening I am confined to my Office with only my Secretary for I have no other to trust to, so that the Cabinet of England are not [indecipherable] as we are and has had a wonderful good effect.
I forget if I informed you that the Conspirators had been tried, & except two to corporal punishment, they whole were acquitted. In my opinion they were clearly proved guilty by the Evidence, and I never can approve of the decision; however I divided the gang, and sent the noted Dwyer and five others to the outsettlements and kept two within this district. One of them (Mr. Cann) was a deligate [delegate] at the Nore & an old acquaintance. I gave the two Informers their full Pardon yet they are not affraid [afraid] to remain here.
