We were only a few hours there, but I saw Capetown at last & dont think much of it at all, but I had a bosker time & I very nearly missed the bus as I got down on the wharf when the gangway was cleared & she was actualy on the move, and although I could very nearly touch her sides there was nothing I could get aboard by, so one of crowd got a rope & soon I was being hauled up on deck & I thought any moment I would drop into "the ditch" as the rope was a heaving line. I would much rather be in Durban any day as no doubt it is pretty and the girls "what what" - the people gave us a royal time as we were there three days & we could ride on the trams free, in fact that is the rule in Durban for anyone in military uniform rides free.
I told you I had seen Alice, and she is a boska girl, nice & plump & good looking & a sport and as different as chalk is to cheese to her sister.
Poor old Uncle is very much upset about her but he didnt tell me but I can judge & her name is never mentioned in the house. The day we sailed from Durban I spent the day with Alice as Ulric was at work also Uncle & I had a long talk with her & she told me a lot of things of Inez. Inez last wrote to Uncle about three months ago from Sydney but he would let Alice
