G.O.C. & B.M. INTELL. Off. A/B.M. & Sig. Off. reconnoitred 66th Div. front. Ground very wet, shell torn & muddy. 66th Div. not sure as to the exact position of their Front Line. The move to Berthen Area was cancelled. Scheme A also cancelled.

11 am. Brigadier & B.M. went to a conference at DIV. H. Qrs. Latest news of 66th Div. was that they were held up in AUGUSTUS WOOD. Objectives for our attack were therefore altered, but final decisions re these not known.
1 pm. Brigadier Intell, Off & B.M. went forward & reconnoitred 66th Div. front.
8 pm. Bde Major [B.M.] sent for from Div. H.Q. and received amended plans as far as they could be decided on at the time. Situation of the 66th Div. Front line obscure.The proposed Green line (final objective) for the 3rd Aust. Div. was now W.25 c 05.15 to E.7 d 05.75. including to us Exert Farm, Echo Copse and the Railway Dugouts at E.7 d 00.70. All unit Commanders were informed of above at Bde H.Q. at 9 pm.

11 am. Reports that 66th Div, now back on Old Front Line. Our task was now as follows :- All original objectives to be taken equalling 2000 yds advance, including PASSCHENDAELE RIDGE. Final objectives remained the same. 2nd objective is E.7 c 20.25 to D.6. c.1.9. First objective D.18 b 05.85. to D.11 a 80.75. Jumping off line not yet decided upon. Inter-Bde boundary between the 9th and 10th A.I. Bdes, to be line from HEINE HOUSE (D.11 c 70.25) through E.1 c 05.30. Units Commanders informed at Bde H.Q. previous instructions being amended accordingly.
9.30 am. Bde first line transport moved off en route to CAVALRY FARM, I.9.
2 pm. 9th A.I.Bde less First line Transport left WINNEZEELE en route for camp at Cavalry Farm. G.O.C. and B.M. remained at WINNEZEELE until the following morning in order to get early notice of any further alterations. There was no time to write operation orders but instructions were dictated and all plans discussed in full.
7 to 9 pm. All Units arrived at Camp at Cavalry Farm.

6 am. G.O.C. and B.M. left WINNEZEELE and proceeded to YPRES by car visiting G.O's of all Bns at Cavalry Farm.
9 am. G.O.C. and B.M. went forward to Bde H. Q. at D.26 a 7.5. (BREMEN HOUSE) calling en route at H.Q. 12th A.I. Bde at D.26 c 1.3. to discuss the coming operations and for the purpose of liason.. The 11th A.I.Bde were holding the line having taken over from English troops during the night 10/11th. Actual position of front line was still very obscure, every endeavour however was being made to get it cleared up.
