9.30 pm. 35th and 36th Bns relieved 33rd and 34th Bns respectively as per Bde Order 81.

Enemy aeroplanes active. Direct hits obtained on Windmill by our Artillery. Pine Avenue damaged by Shell Fire.

Four direct hits obtained on Windmill by 12" Hows.

Enemy artillery, and T.M's very active. 5000 shells fell on Sector during the day.

12.30 am. 3 parties of the 36th Bn attacked the enemy posts in V.5 b as per Bde Order 82. 3 posts were captured but the party against No 10 were driven back. Our centre party counterattacked and the northern party was then withdrawn. Enemy were found to be in force and posts were stoutly defended and strongly constructed. Our casualties were 60 all told including 1 Officer and 14 O/R killed. Our M.G's fired 10,000 rds supporting the operation.

2 pm. Our heavies bombarded the Windmill for 4 hours, obtaining many direct hits.

7 am. Enemy placed a dense smoke screen on Cinema Road, our Hows did much wire cutting.
2.30 pm. About 200 Mustard Gas Shells fired into the left Bn.
9.30 pm. 33rd and 34th Bns were relieved by the 35th and 36th Bns in "A' and "B" areas as per Bde Order 83.

Our 12" Hows procured 11 direct hits on the Windmill and blew up a Magazine. Our 6" Hows. bombarded the enemy posts Nos. 7, 8, 9 and 10. Enemy artillery very active. 5000 rds being fired into the sector, doing much damage to the trenches.

Heavy reciprocol bombardments, enemy fired 2200 Shells into left Bn.
11.30 pm. Enemy barraged GAPPARD FARM and C.T.

Enemy barraged Left Bn for 10 minutes.
4.15 am. Our Artillery had a short practice barrage.

35th and 36th Bns were relieved by 33rd and 34th Bns in "A" and "B" areas as per Bde Order 84.

Our M.G's active firing 9250 rds.
1.30 am. Enemy shelled "B" Bn area heavily. Heavy smoke screen drifted over the area from enemy lines at 7 pm.
9.40 pm. Heavy bombardment opened on Right Bn and right Co of left Bn. S.O.S. put up.
9.43 pm. Two parties of the enemy advanced against each Bn front but were dispersed with Rifle, Lewis and Stokes fire, leaving many dead in "No Man's" land. Our works badly damaged by Hostile shelling. Our casualties were 4 O/R killed 6 O/R Wounded
