My dear Arthur

In the first place I acknowledge receipt of 2 field post cards, both I think carrying June dates.  Three weeks ago a later dated July 10 - "Both well much love".  This I take it was a reassuring cable following still another of the many hot engagements in which you have been engaged.  Last week Fred posted me from the C.T.A. your cable of 31 July, conveying birthday greetings to the Mother that loved you all.  Fred arrived in Melbourne last Wednesday week, he is looking well and says he is very fit, he secured his discharge and is off to Brisbane I believe, practically in charge of The Federal Acetate of Lime factory.  Bob is still in Melbourne, I arranged that Dr Stawell examined him, and on his advice and recommendation, have approved of a slight operation to the Tonsil & the uvela and likely to be of big assistance in his breathing, and so eventually helping him to beat the stammering.  A few weeks with
