You say you prize my letter of 13/3/18 muchly. I'm very pleased to hear that though I do not remember what it was about. Might I say that I appreciate your recent letters to you me more than ordinarily too. The reasons are because firstly they contain of late such good news of the Mater, secondly because they are all so full of detail and so clear concerning the Mater, thirdly because the general tone of all of them is very reassuring but most of all I appreciate them because of the style they are written in. It's rather hard for me to explain in a letter but your letters give me the feeling that you appreciate my views on different matters, so that you give me all the particulars on different things - rather that you dont still look upon me as a boy still. I dont mean that absolutely literally but many letters I get make me feel that people still seem to have the impression that I am still the same age as I was 10 years ago which in time becomes rather tiresome - not that Ive ever had any complaint about your letters to me but your more recent letters are more than usually in accord with my point of view. I have bungled this explanation badly, in fact I doubt if Ive explained myself at all to you. "Ce ne fait rien"! [It does not matter.]
By the way you ask if I have ever struck your old friend C. Newby in London - Yes I have.
