with Major Morton (the Doc) & Major Stewart (O.C. of a sister Battery) and Clive won all our money. Tell Mr W.G. Ive had a note half written to him for a couple of months but I never seem to get an opportunity to finish it. In addition please give my warmest regards to both Mrs Steele & Mr W.G.
Right O! Mater dear, I shall not "dare to try and get into the Flying Corps" as you command. I did apply and was told to wait till July (this month) when my application would be considered but I've been thinking it over and I had already come to the conclusion that it would be rather unwise to waste all the experience Ive had in the Artillery. But the flying has certainly fascinated me and I'm aching to go up again. You say dear "I wonder how you are on this day the first of May - God grant that you are still alive". Alive! I should just think I was alive. Even now on this the 9th day of July I'm still giving a fair imitation of being alive and I reckon that when the numbers go up at the finish you'll still see me up with the field and
